Scaleway

Scaleway is a French cloud infrastructure provider and a subsidiary of the Iliad Group, one of Europe's largest telecommunications companies. Founded in 1999 as Online.net and rebranded as Scaleway in 2017, the company operates data centers in Paris, Amsterdam, and Warsaw, offering a comprehensive range of cloud services designed for European data sovereignty.

The platform provides virtual instances, bare metal servers (including GPU instances for AI workloads), managed Kubernetes (Kapsule and Kosmos), serverless functions and containers, object storage, managed databases (PostgreSQL, MySQL, Redis), transactional email, IoT Hub, and AI/ML infrastructure including managed inference endpoints. Scaleway has made significant investments in GPU infrastructure to serve the growing demand for AI workloads in Europe.

Scaleway differentiates itself through its commitment to European values: all data stays within the EU, the company is subject to French and EU law rather than US regulations like the CLOUD Act, and it has been an active advocate for European digital sovereignty. The company also emphasizes environmental responsibility, using adiabatic cooling in its data centers and committing to low-carbon operations. Scaleway is a founding member of Gaia-X, the European initiative for federated data infrastructure.
